We’re live!

I am delighted to announce that we are launching a new online daily deal marketplace services called LovingDeal on the 12 December 2011. It allows people to buy, sell and manage their daily deal vouchers easily in one place.

Daily deal websites such as Groupon, LivingSocial and KGB Deals are getting popular in the UK. These sites offer fantastic deals and great discounts (50-90%) on local products and services, from restaurant meals to beauty treatment. In addition, they offer national deals where consumers can have the products delivered to them. In the current tough economic climate, it is undoubtedly great news for consumers as they can buy the products and services that may not otherwise have been within reach.

All the daily deal vouchers have expiry date. If the voucher is not been redeemed before the expiry date, it will lose its value. What if you can’t find time to use it before it expires? The founder of LovingDeal bought a couple of deals from different daily deal sites and realised some of the deals are expiring before he has time to use them. He put them up on eBay hoping to recoup some money back but without any joy. He ends up giving them to his friends. As a techie, he believes there should be a better way of dealing with this issue. Few months later, LovingDeal is live!

LovingDeal is one of the first full transaction-based daily deal marketplaces in the UK. You can sell your unwanted deals by uploading your vouchers, name your price and then sit back and let us market and sell for you. Once it is sold, we will send you the money straight into your PayPal account. You can also search and buy the deals you have missed the first time. It is so easy, pick the deals, pay for them, download the vouchers and enjoy right away!

In addition, if you are a deal lover and you bought many vouchers from different daily deal websites, it is so easy to lose track of them. LovingDeal can help you to organise all your vouchers in one place. You can upload and set the vouchers expiration alerts (from 1 day to 1 month) to remind you to use them before expiring. You can also sell these vouchers with a click of the button.

Why use LovingDeal?

  • Zero hassle – No communication is required between buyer and seller.  LovingDeal will do all the hard work;
  • Deal guarantee – Deals sold on LovingDeal are protected by LovingDeal Buyer Protection Guarantee. If vouchers are discovered to be invalid or have already been used within 30 days of purchased, full refund will be given;
  • Specialise in daily dealLovingDeal is a marketplace specifically built for daily deal. All the features are customised for deal lovers.

We believe our strength will make us stand out from other marketplaces like eBay and Gumtree.

It’s free to register and post unwanted deals for selling. We charge £0.99 plus 8% of selling price for every deal sold. If you pay £1 extra, you can get your deal featured on the homepage. This would attract more buyers.

Right now our services are available in most cities in the UK. We are working to expand to more cities. The founder of LovingDeal only has one goal, which is to build a product that deal lovers love, and bring a lot of smiles to them.

UK Daily Deal Aggregators

Daily deal and group buying concept exist for long time but only become popular in recent years. As mentioned in previous post ‘UK Daily Deal Sites‘, there are many daily deal sites you can find these days. Users subscribe to the service and they will receive daily email containing the deals that the site is offering. So if user subscribe to 10 daily deal sites, that user will receive over 10 emails per day, over 70 emails per week, over 280 emails per month just for the deals. Soon the email inbox will be cluttered with overwhelming choices of daily deals. Not to mention there are over 65 sites daily deal sites in the UK and the number is still increasing. Due to this, the daily deal aggregators are created.

Daily deal aggregator collects all the active deals from different daily deals websites and present to subscribers in one manageable form either through webpage or email. User will be allowed to search deals easily by filtering the deal category and/or deal site etc. User will only receive one daily email containing all the deals from different daily deal websites tailor to their ‘like’.

There are over 20 daily sites are aggregating the UK daily deals. Please find below the list:

UK Daily Deal Sites

The daily deal and group buying sites offer fantastic deals to the consumers, from beauty treatments to restaurant meals, canvas and photo prints and many more. On the other hand, it is a new medium for local merchants and retailers to feature their products and services online and to gain new customers. It is undoubtedly a win win situation for both consumer and merchant.

With so many benefits that daily deals offer, it is hardly a surprise that they are so popular. To date, there are over 650 daily deals services in the US. It is not just popular in the US, there are many cities in other continents like Europe and Asia are gaining momentum as well.

So how many daily deals sites are there in the UK? There are over 55 sites are actively offering deals. (See the list below) A lot of big cooperation like Google, Microsoft and Amazon see the opportunities and are also joining this bandwagon in recent months. Although some of them are now offering deals in a few cities in the US but they are gradually expending to more cities. Global expansion to the Europe cities and UK market is just a matter of time. Early this year, Virgin announced to the media that they consider dipping toes into this online coupons game as well. With a new daily deal site launching almost every week, the UK daily deal market is getting very crowded.

Testing 123

These few weeks are all about testing, testing and testing.

So what is testing and why is it so important? In a simple term, system testing is to check through the system ensuring all the functions and features are behaved as intended. This is an important process as most of the obvious errors will be identified and fixed in this stage and hence giving users an error-free system to perform what they would like to do, in our case, buying and selling deals. Below are some of the tests we use to test our website:

  • Functionality testing;
  • Usability testing;
  • Compatibility testing;
  • Security testing;
  • Etc.

After all these tests, we will not end here. Follow the website beta launches to the public, we will continue with user testing. This test is all about getting feedbacks from the users and enhances the system accordingly.

We decided to implement the new technology on our website. Testing these features and getting approval from the service provider are taken longer than what we first anticipated. So what will you benefit from this? Below are some of the features:

  • Automated Seller Verification – Every seller who wants to sell on our website needs to get their identity verified first. This would reduce the risk of fraud and improves the overall security. Buyers can feel more confident buying deals from the verified sellers. We automate this process to improve overall accuracy and reduce the processing time.
  • Chained Payments – Buyer can pay for multiple deals from different sellers in one checkout and payment. This would save a lot of time in buying multiple deals from different sellers.

For those who anxious to use our service, your patience is much appreciated. We are determined to provide you a great features and an error-free marketplace to buy and sell your deals and to manage your vouchers!

LovingDeal on the Blog

After few months of hard work, the LovingDeal website is nearly completed. We are now in the final stage of testing. It will probably takes about a week or so before the site is ready for launching.

So what is LovingDeal? Long story short, it is a marketplace for people to buy and sell daily deal vouchers.

And why LovingDeal? The daily deal sites such as Groupon, LivingSocial and KGB Deals are getting popular in the UK. They offer fantastic deals and great discounts (50%-90%) on local products and services i.e. restaurant meals, beauty treatment, golf lessons and so on. There are 2 catches here:

  1. All the deals have specific time limit, usually runs for a day. So if you want it, you have to be quick, or else you will miss it;
  2. If you commit to buy, you will have to wait until a certain number of people committinng to buy as well in order to have the deal.

With its great discounts and time limit constraint, the first catch will lead people to commit to buy without thinking rationally. So is this what you really need, or you just want it because of its 90% discount? Furthermore, all the daily deal vouchers have expiry date, so if you didn’t use them before the expiry date, you will end up losing all the value. What if you regret buying it or can’t find time to use it before it expires? The second catch is you can’t have it immediately. What if you are hungry right now or you need to travel to Manchester tomorrow and stay for 2 nights?

LovingDeal is the solution for you. LovingDeal helps you to sell unwanted deals and buy instant deals! Selling deals are so easy: post your deal and name your price, and then sit back and let us market your deal and sell it for you. Once your deal is sold, we will send you the money straight to your Paypal account. Buying deals are even quicker: pick deals, pay for them, download the vouchers and enjoy! Buying and selling your vouchers couldn’t be easier!

We can’t wait for the launch! If you want to find out more about us, please read About Us or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
